This week in the Sewing Space, members Sara and Aya have been teaching the other ladies crochet. With their gracious guidance some women have picked up the skill for the first time and now already underway making crochet cushions for the shop!
Sara is enjoying passing on her crochet skills which she learnt from her mother in Iran when she was a child. She is also a keen sewer, but crochet is her favourite because it is more relaxing. The finished product looks beautiful.
Our other teacher Aya is only 17 years old. She comes to the Dignity Centre with her 6 siblings and mum Raeda, who is also good at crochet and sewing. Aya helped design the sequence of colours - browns, whites, cream and dark green we are using to make the cushion. She is super quick and underway completing her 4th cushion this week.
We are lucky to have such talented members of the sewing space.

The sewing space would not be the same without our master tailor: Ba, great teacher and valuable source of knowledge for everyone at the Dignity Centre.
